The 8 Motivational Types

Each motivational type possesses a unique constellation of motivators, values and challenges. Some stay stable throughout a person's life, others will change depending on new values and emerging life circumstances. There are no good or bad types instead there are strengths associated with each one, as well as potential trouble spots and common conflicts. The challenge is to find a work environment that provides the best possible match for a person at his current stage of life.

Most motivational types are found in all work sectors and all types of work, although some of them may not be content to be where they are. Typically people have one key motivator – a major – and one or two other important driving motivators – minors.

is prepared to take risks to enhance my skills portfolio.
needs to win or build my work, pursue my own visions.
is constantly on the move, changing careers, locations and/or positions.
enjoys established routines – surprises cause me stress.
works to live and requires flexibility to pursue life outside of work.
