Dr. Frances Dipper is an independent marine consultant, underwater photographer and author of the awarding winning DK Guide to Oceans

Francis has extensive first-hand experience of studying marine life in the UK, the Middle East, and the Far East. In addition, she is a qualified Diving Instructor, expedition leader and educational lecturer, and a research associate with the Natural History Museum, London.
She has written numerous books and articles on marine biology and ocean environments for both children and adults. Most recently, she was a consultant on DK's acclaimed Animal project, and wrote a book on Extraordinary Fish (BBC/Toucan Books) to tie in with the BBC's Blue Planet publishing programme.
She is also the author of DK Guide to the Oceans, which won the Junior Prize, Aventis Prizes for Science Books 2003.
